Earlier today, I called my dear friend D. in the UK...

Last time we spoke (around Christmas) she reminded me that her daughter (my God-daughter!) was due around the twentieth of this month.  I was just calling in to check how she was feeling.

Turns out I started being a Godfather 8 days ago!

*SQUEEE!!!*

Both mom and child are healthy and happy.  :D

He'll be the very best :)

Well, I might kinda blow it on the ensuring her growth as a Christian, but then again, maybe I'll present enough of a different outlook to so that she grows as a well-rounded one. :)

I just checked out the book Christiann recommended

And I ordered a copy for F. along with the "Summer Solstice" book by the same author we have the "Winter Solstice", "Spring Equinox" and "Earth Mother" of.

I thought you said that D. had relaxed regarding the Christianity part of the responsibilities, and you were actually going for a more open-minded approach anyway :)

D. is actually quite Christian, hence why I'll be serving more as an example of upright behaviour than anything else. Still, I can't help but think that I'll have at least a bit of a hand in the kid's spiritual development. ;)

I checked out the aforementioned book. It seems pretty much in keeping with what most British schools teach in Religious Ed, so D. will okay with that. :)
