I had to smile...

The folks and I went out to see 'Avatar', a film my mother had been wanting to see for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it a second time, (especially as I knew when the best times to go use the bathroom were). I had expected them to enjoy it. What I didn't expect was the conversation afterwards where both of them enthusiastically gabbed about all they adored about the film, even if, at times, they struggled to articulate it. Hearing them go on about everything ranging from the plot, the landscapes, and even the colours used, with obvioius wonder and amazement, like a couple of excited kids, really had me smiling in the backseat on the drive home. *chuckle*

LOL! My dad was the same way. Avatar has many meanings, not only the representation, but in Hindu religion avtar/ avatar is the name given to god in human form and the depictions are a blue person, so my dad was SO excited about that too. He told EVERYONE about it, it was so cute!

So 'Avatar' blowing the minds of parents isn't a unique experience. *chuckle*

I hadn't considered religious representation, btw.

Ha ha, but I know at least my parents, don't go to that many movies and the 3D technology has come a long distance from the blue and red glasses that I remember using as children. My mum didn't come to the movie with us, so my dad took her to the IMAX 3D version and convinced quite a few family friends to go with him as well. :D

Well, it's a very cultural thing, if you're unfamiliar with the religion, it's difficult to consider the representation. :)

Actually, I have enough passing knowledge that both what an avatar is and that many deities are represented in blue are pieces of info that did exist in my brain at one point or another, but kinda drifted into the dimmest recesses of my memory.

I have been wanting to see 'Avatar' for a while now. Hopefully I will be able to see it before it comes out of DVD! I am glad you & your folks enjoyed the film together. Take care of yourself! :)

GO SEE IT IN THE THEATRE! NOW!

Trust me, this is one that NEEDS to be seen on a big screen.
