Yesterday, after wiring off 600 British pounds to secure a place to rent in the UK, I decided to take in the CN Tower. I picked up a City Pass, which will let me in to a number of different tourist locations, so as to save myself a bit of coin. The city pass would let me in to most of the CN tower stuff, but the girl at the ticket counter asked if, for about $9, I wanted to upgrade my pass and, more importantly, get into the express line (thus cutting the wait from an hour to fifteen minutes). Seeing people roasting in the sun in the regular lineup, I opted for the upgrade. As for my wait, while it was at least inside the building, it was at least an hour or so long. Yerg! And that would only be the first of three lineups I'd be in that day. It became a test of mental tenacity to stay in that line. 15 minutes my ass!!!

The view from the CN tower is pleasant, not worth all the wait, but pleasant. And, yes, I did step out on the glass floor (if for but half a second). But, in all, it was kind of a waste, especially of time. If you travel into or out of Toronto by air, just look out the window; you'll get about as good a view if the wing isn't in the way.

The evening was spent have a pleasant dinner at a Thai restaurant (curry and coconut milk soup, yummm....!) and then an engaged discussion with my hostess about possible methods for her to resolve issues in the final chapter of the novel she is working on and on the whole issue of love and pair bonding. 'Twas good!

This morning I got an e-mail from the recruiting agency that's causing me a bit of stress. Apparently there is an issue with my work visa and I will be brought in under a holiday visa. I have to contact the office tomorrow to find out what must be done to deal with the work visa issue. With just three days before I leave and with all the money spent for plane tickets and rent, this is NOT the kind of news I need to hear. Blech! If this goes to hell in a handbasket, I'm going to be stuck without a job and owing friends and family a substantial chunk of money. Yerg! At least though, given that I have return tickets, I can't be stranded anywhere. (sigh...)
