Sorry I haven't been in touch that often in the last few weeks. The beginning of the first term has been completely nuts from the start, courtesy of a visit from Her Majesty's Inspectors that we had to prepare for. I put in some heroic amounts of overtime (some paid, most not) to things sorted for it. In the end, we came out with having made substantial improvements since the last inspection (yay!). Life since the inspection (from Wednesday on) has had its ups and downs. I've managed to recover from the stress of the past weeks quite well and I've initiated a plan to help me keep up with the homework (a serious issue for myself and other English instructors). I'm still having a few problems with some of my classes, but others have improved. And, as demonstrated last night by coming in at 3 in the morning, I'm developing a social life.
The biggest woe of the week, however, is the dramatic system failure of my laptop, which currently awaits the transfer of a number of files in order to finish re-installing Windows. The ugly thing is that I had to reinstall over the previous installation as I did not have backups for my data. That'll serve me right for not having made a system recovery disk. Currently, any internet contact I have will be through my roommate's computer, which, unfortunately, is rarely left unoccupied; communication will be intermittent until I get mine back to running.
And now off to do some lesson planning.
