I suppose I should give some recounting of the event occuring between my last two posts, as I'm certain that the sudden jump from preparing to leave for Victoria to relaxing in MK's boathouse could be a bit disconcerting.

The major souvenir shopping trip did not quite go as expected, as there were few souvenirs to be had in Milton Keynes and there was no time to go to London to shop (like my flatmate would have let me, given the current situation there). Fortunately, there was a wealth of reasonably priced souvenirs at Heathrow Airport, as opposed to the limited selection of hideously overpriced stuff at Gatwick (through which I travelled on my to Toronto).

The flight to Victoria was quite reasonable and I was kept well fed by Air Canada staff. Still, though, I think that Air Transat is the better deal. Certainly, there is a little less food, but the seats are of equal size and the service is comparable.

Much of my time in Victoria prior to this weekend has consisted of sorting through stuff I had in storage with the Quadnaughts (my former roommates) and trying to get rid of as much as possible. In amongst that I've managed to get in a bit of shopping/sight seeing around downtown Victoria, sort out a few pieces of business, and visit with some friends. I'm actually quite pleased with the progression of the shopping; I've purchased a number of gifts for events belated and upcoming. I've also picked up some funky souvenirs, though, sadly, I will not be securing the hockey jersey that one friend back in the UK had asked for ($99 for a hockey jersey?!?!).

Friday saw a pleasurable ferry ride to Anacortes, where I was picked up by [livejournal.com profile] marykate_gift to spend an exceptionally enjoyable and tranquil weekend at her boathouse. After the rush of the last several weeks, that was greatly needed and appreciated.

And that leaves us caught up to the last post.

Since then, I've had another lovely ferry ride back that was spent indulging in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (whereas the first was spent happily shutterbugging). Unfortunately, increased security measures caused about an hour and a half of travel delay (thank you, B., for your patience!).

Yesterday's rather late dinner consisted of (JOY!) crispy ginger fried beef at Lin Heung's with N. It's sad to think that such a meal will become an annual event (sigh...). However, though there is no crispy ginger fried beef in the UK, there IS Scrumpy Jack cider to ammeliorate the culinary despair.

Today promises to be enjoyable and relaxing. I'm not yet certain what I shall be doing, but whatever it is will be done at a relaxed pace. This pace will be continued until I leave for PG on Wednesday evening.
