New friends and other events

I'm still in dire need of new furniture, and other odds and ends, but I'm settling into life in the new flat quite nicely: I've found good trails to run on, I'm no longer so ridiculously broke and the nearby off-license carries a tasty brand of pear cider. I've also acquired some new work trousers, size 40. Yes, I did try to squeeze into size 38, but I've got a ways to go for those yet. (I did get the fly buttoned, though!)

Exercise wise, the upper body is solidifying nicely and the major masses where my six pack will appear are quite apparent.

Occasionally, when lying on the couch for example, I'll rest my hand on some part of my body, like my hip or thigh, and realize just how different it feels with all the oddly shaped muscles. My calves are especially unusual territory with all the angles intersecting at different points to define geometrical shapes and planes.

The most recent bit of good stuff, however, was the invitation I received yesterday evening to join some of my neighbours for an impromptu drink.

I met two lovely couples who live in the same building that I do. Being intelligent and good humoured, they made for great conversation! I got a good feel of the history of this place; it definitely has a small town "everyone grew up here" feel to it. One of my new found friends is a teacher and we got to swap a few war stories from the classroom. Another is a bright movie fan and we got to talk about the merits of Clint Eastwood films, amongst many others. These two are also pretty keen to walking, so I may have new companions on which to go on walking tours, day hikes and the like. As a bonus, one of the couples also just happens to have a wardrobe they desperately need to get rid of, coinciding perfectly for my great need to acquire one..

Yep, methinks I may come to really enjoy life here.
