This is the second piece of fanfic poetry that I've written recently. It looks at the relationship between two characters from
ysabetwordsmith's serial poetry series based around Fiorenza, the Italian Herbalist. It was primarily inspired by events occurring in the poem "Fiorenza and the Witch-Son," and explores what possible thoughts Don Candido could have had immediately following the events thereof.
Don Candido muses...
Here she comes into the village
wearing breeches again.
She cares not for anything proper
and scoffs at what I say.
Fiorenza, willful maiden,
you always dance too free.
With her basket of herbs and cures,
she tends to wounds and ills,
and, despite all her heathen ways,
virtue sits within her.
Fiorenza, gentle healer,
you tend us all so well.
She sets about mending bodies,
as I see to our souls,
and all too much the same as I,
she wanders life alone.
Fiorenza, lonesome woman,
Does your heart know desire?
My advice to find a husband,
is met with sharp rebuke.
I try to guide her from my path.
My heart is caged by vows.
Fiorenza, kindred spirit,
Can you sense how I yearn?

Some poems do. I have at least one Fiorenza piece bumping around the back of my mind, and several for the Paladins series.
